This morning, Sky Sports News (31/01/2020) claimed that Spurs had agreed a fee with Chelsea for the transfer of Olivier Giroud. That, however, according to The Sun was reliant on the Blues landing a replacement for the Frenchman.Ultimately, their pursuit has been a failed one as Frank Lampard’s men have given up trying to find a further striker on deadline day.David Ornstein took to Twitter to reveal the news, suggesting it would now take something extraordinary for the 33-year-old to move. He said:
This will come as a huge blow to Tottenham who are still in the market for cover with Harry Kane out injured.
The forward has scored 17 times this season and with the England international out of action, Lucas Moura and Son Heung-Min have led the line.

Spurs have also been in the market for Real Sociedad forward Willian Jose this month. They were put off by the Spanish club’s £25m asking price but Sky Sports understand he was offered to Manchester United on loan.
It remains to be seen whether Jose Mourinho’s men continue to pursue the Spaniard. All that is certain, though, is that Giroud looks like he’ll be remaining at Chelsea.
