Danny Mills, who represented the Three Lions at the 2002 World Cup, says he does not understand why White has not made himself available to be picked in an England squad since 2022. Writing for 10bet, Mills claimed his view of White as a player was slanted as a result of the decision.

White has not featured on an England squad list since the 2022 World Cup, which he left early after a reported disagreement with then manager Gareth Southgate's assistant coach Steve Holland. Southgate revealed last March that White had asked not to be selected in the build-up to Euro 2024.
WHAT MILLS SAID
Mills was discussing the merits of the best right-backs in the Premier League when he wrote: "Unfortunately, Ben White has been injured. And maybe I'm a little bit slanted because he doesn't want to play for England. I don't get that."

White's immediate priority is to return to fitness, with Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta claiming he should be back after this weekend's FA Cup break. New Three Lions boss Thomas Tuchel has reportedly opened the door to an international return for the defender, though there is no indication yet as to whether he would accept.
